How 'Molly-bather' works
This patented product has, on the wall side, a 'proper'
grab rail, available in different widths and styles
to suit the user and their dwelling. This is complimented
by handholds around the perimeter of the transfer
seat of the bather, which most importantly allows
the user a safe hold at all times during transfer
and when lowering or raising.
The bather houses a belt mechanism that lowers
nd recoils a reinforced polypropylene belt for
a user of up to 22 stones, (140kg).
The bather has a removable battery pack, which
provides around 20 lifts between charges, before
being charged outside the bathroom using the supplied
high-quality battery charger.
Why is 'Molly-bather' becoming
the preferred bathing product of Independent Living
Centres and professionals?
Molly allows a full, unrestricted soak, whereas
Portable Bath Lifts leave the user about 4 inches
from the bottom of the bath.
The rest of the family can use the bath normally
without the struggle of lifting a heavy ‘Portable’
out of the bath.
Molly gives a good 20 lifts between charges (around
a fortnights use), most portables offer only 5
to 10 lifts.
Molly has a ‘proper’ ergonomic grab
rail and handholds all around the seat giving
greater support for the user at all times.
Wall mounted belt bathers require the user to
‘step-in’ and ‘step-out’,
but with a Molly the transfer starts and finishes
outside of the bath, using the comfortable transfer
seat.
Wall mounted bathers, when raising or lowering,
take the user in the opposite direction to where
they want to go, therefore requiring more ‘shuffling’.
With Molly, the user is taken in the right direction
and not left climbing the tiles.
Most belt bathers are sold
for up to twice the price of a Molly bather.
Wall mounted bathers protrude over the bath by
up to 5 inches, therefore impeding the transfer
and bathing of the user. With Molly outside the
bath, their bathing and transfer is much more
comfortable and natural.
The wall mounted bathers requirevery structural
fixings in both the wall and the floor, and the
belt can also become inadvertantly detached from
the floor cradle, resulting in an unsecured belt.
Our floor fixing requires minimal loadings, the
wall fixings are less stressed and the belt cannot
be inadvertantly detached from the wall cradle.
Molly comes with a waterproof roving handset
as standard, whereas with most belt bathers it
is an optional extra.
Molly is the only product in its class to meet
the new stringent CEN safety requirements.
Competitors raise limit switches are electro-mechanical
and can be affected by humidity etc, ours is completely
water and humidity proof.
Wall mounted belt bathers are mounted in the
‘shower’ area causing water to enter
both their casing and corrode their metal parts.
Molly is mounted outside the bath, water entry
is minimal, and our case is dual vented to air
out the belt properly.
Molly was designed with the help of Occupational
Therapists at the ILC to create the safest and
best belt bather on the market. This is why Molly
Bather is the preferred bathing product of Independent
Living Centres and professionals.
